Mark Gadue is a Burlington native who grew up in the Old North End, played hockey and baseball for Rice Memorial High School, and continued his baseball career at St. Michael's College where he received a degree in American Studies. Instead of pursing a career in academia, however, Mark got into the dry cleaning business by accident in August of 1979. What began as a temporary job helping his mom, Betty Gadue, run her business turned into a 30-year career when Mark and his wife Marjorie bought One Hour Martinizing from Betty and created Gadue’s Dry Cleaning. (The rest, as they say, is history…which you could read on our web site here.)
Mark and Marjorie have two children: Matthew, an excellent mechanic, and Aline, who joined Mark at Gadue’s Dry Cleaning in 2003. Mark also has three young granddaughters, and he delights in spending time with them nearly every day. In the summer, you might find Mark cruising Vermont’s beautiful roadways on his motorcycle or enjoying Lake Champlain; in winter, you’re more likely to find him cruising down a ski trail. Mark is dedicated to making a difference in our communities, not only through efforts made by Gadue’s Dry Cleaning, but personally as well—most recently serving as the treasurer for JUMP. Many families in our community are finding it harder and harder to provide even the basic supplies that their children need to start the school year off right. Gadue's Dry Cleaning would like to see every student get back to school with all the supplies they need. Once again, Gadue's Dry Cleaning will be purchasing backpacks and filling them with supplies donated by our generous clients and wonderful staff. Last year we supplied 235 deserving students from Kindergarten though High School with basic supplies. Please join us once again in our mission to supply our future leaders with the tools they need by donating whatever you can. Thank You!
