2,500+ Kids’ Coats Cleaned And Distributed Before Vermont Winter

by aline on October 24, 2013

Coats for KidsGadue’s Dry Cleaning is excited to announce again the annual Coats for Kids campaign, one of the long-running community efforts we’re proudest to be a part of. We’ve been helping supply warm clothes to children and adults in need for better than a quarter-century! And, as always, we can’t do it without your help.

We all know how fiercely cold our Vermont winters can be. Imagine lacking the means to properly shield your children—or yourself—from those biting winds. That’s the reality for many low-income families, and it can translate to more frequent and severe seasonal illnesses and the associated missed school- and workdays.

Given the seriousness of the issue, we’re overjoyed to again be part of a charitable effort in Chittenden County to gather together snug coats, hats, mittens, snow pants, and other winter outerwear essentials and get them into the hands of those who need them.

Our role all these years has been to clean new and gently used winter garments—free of charge—and to deliver them to the local agencies and schools that can most efficiently supply them to families in need.

This is a commitment to community service we at Gadue’s Dry Cleaning take very seriously. Every autumn we’ve helped supply huge loads of clean winter clothes to Vermont residents—better than 2,500 most years.

Want to get involved? Bring your new or gently used winter outerwear to any of our Gadue’s Dry Cleaning locations. We’ll apply our trademark Gadue’s care to clean and prepare those items so they can keep our neighbors warm and safe in the cold and snow.

Coats for Kids is all about community: the collective effort of many to take care of our own. Join the cause! Let’s see if we can compile more winter clothes than ever this year—and keep more Vermont families healthy and snug.

Hello. I have donated to this in the past, and will continue to do so, as it is a wonderful cause, and thank you Mark and the staff for doing it. My question is, where would one obtain this clothing if they were in need? I know someone who is, and would like to direct them as to how to access it. Have a wonderful day!

Hi, Charlotte:

Thank you for your contributions to our Coats for Kids program! We’re happy to do it every year.

Your friend will be able to find coats at COTS, the Milton Family Center, often at the Food Shelf in Burlington, at Howard Center or LUND, and at Vermont Refugee Resettlement.

All my best,
aline
